Email usCan I keep more than one business?
Yes, up to 5 on one account. Tap your business name at the top of Home, then Add another business. Tap the name again any time to switch. Each business has its own customers, Cash Book, bank accounts, expenses, Recycle bin and backups.
How do I restore a backup?
Settings → Backup & restore → Restore a backup. Pick a backup from this phone, from your Google Drive, or any Munshi backup file (for example one sent to you on WhatsApp). It comes back as a new business next to your current ones, so nothing you have now is changed.
Can I bring my customers from another khata app?
Yes. Export your customer list from the other app, or use any sheet, as Excel (.xlsx) or CSV with a name column and a balance column (phone is optional). From DigiKhata you can also share a customer statement or the business "Account Statement" PDF: Munshi reads every entry with its date. In Munshi open Accounts and tap the import button, or Settings → Import customers. You see every person and balance before anything is added, and you can undo the import straight after.
How do I back up my data?
Munshi backs up automatically to your device once a day when you open the app. For an extra copy off-device, go to Settings → Backup & restore → Connect Google Drive.
Can I get my data back if I lose my phone?
Yes — sign in with the same phone number on any device and your ledger, cash book, bank book, and expense records sync straight back from the cloud. If you'd connected Google Drive, you'll also have the backup file in your own Drive.
I deleted an entry by mistake.
Open Settings → Your data → Recycle bin → find the entry → Restore. It holds deleted Accounts, Cash Book, Bank and Expense entries, and you can filter by kind. Deleted entries are recoverable for 14 days before they're permanently removed.
How do I see a report for certain dates?
On the Home screen, open Reports and pick the dates (this month, last month, this year, all time, or your own). You get your Cash Book, bank accounts, expenses and an estimate of profit, and can share each as a PDF or Excel file. A customer's or bank statement also asks which dates you want before it is shared.
How do I pin, edit, archive or delete a customer?
Press and hold the customer in your Accounts list. A menu opens with Pin to top, Edit, Archive and Delete. Only a settled customer (balance zero) can be archived, and only a customer with no entries can be deleted.
The camera, microphone or photos don't work.
Your phone may have turned that permission off for Munshi. Munshi tells you when this happens and the Open Settings button takes you straight to the right page; allow Camera, Microphone or Photos there and try again. Munshi asks for permission to open your contacts only when you tap the contacts button, and uses only the one contact you pick.
How do I set a collection date for many customers?
Open Reminders, long-press a customer (or tap the checklist icon), tick the others, then choose Set collection date. You can undo it straight after.
I forgot my App Lock PIN.
On the lock screen tap “Forgot PIN?”. Munshi signs you out and removes the lock; sign in again with your phone number and your data is all there. After several wrong tries Munshi makes you wait a little before the next one. While App Lock is on, screenshots are blocked on Android and the app is hidden in the app switcher; this is on purpose.
How do I tell you which version I have?
The version is at the bottom of Settings. In Settings → Support Munshi, “Copy technical details” copies the version, your phone model and system version so you can paste them into a message to us. Nothing personal is included.
How do I send payment reminders on WhatsApp?
Write a short, polite message that states the amount, and send it yourself, ideally the day before the date you agreed. Nothing is sent until you press Send. In Munshi, open Reminders, choose the customer or supplier, and tap Send reminder. WhatsApp opens with the name, your business and the amount already filled in. You read it and press Send. Nothing is sent automatically. If no phone number is saved, WhatsApp lets you pick the chat. You can also set one collection date for several customers.
What is Munshi?
Munshi is a khata (ledger) app for Android and iPhone, made by DIGIT (digit.com.pk). On your phone the app is named Munshi. On the App Store it is listed as Munshi Khata App. It records customer and supplier credit, a cash book, bank accounts and expenses, in English and Urdu. It is free to download and ad-supported. A WhatsApp reminder opens already written, and you press Send yourself.
Is Munshi the same as Apna Munshi?
No. Munshi is the khata app published by DIGIT (digit.com.pk). On Google Play the package name is pk.digit.munshikhata, and on the App Store it is listed as Munshi Khata App. Apna Munshi, and other apps whose names include Munshi (such as “Munshi – Ledger”), are different products from different makers. Before you download, check that the developer is DIGIT and the website is munshi.com.pk.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. Your businesses and all associated data are permanently deleted within 30 days. Until then your account is disabled and your data is kept untouched. Changed your mind? Sign in again with your phone number and confirm the one-time code within those 30 days and your account is restored automatically.
Why does Munshi show ads?
Ads pay for the servers that keep your khata safe and synced, and for building, updating and supporting the app. That's how offline use, more than one phone, Google Drive backup and reports stay free for everyone. Ads are marked “Ad” and never appear while you add an entry, sign in, unlock the app or send a reminder. Your customers' names, numbers and amounts are never shared with advertisers.
Why do some exports play a short ad?
A PDF of this month or last month is always free. A PDF covering longer dates, or any Excel file, opens after a short video ad that you choose to watch; those buttons are marked “Ad”. If no ad can be loaded, for example when you're offline, the file is made anyway. If you close the ad before it ends, nothing is exported and you can try again.
How do I change my ad choices?
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, open Settings → Privacy choices to change your consent at any time. On Android you can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads. On iPhone, Munshi doesn't ask to track you across other apps. More in our Privacy Policy.
Is my data safe in a khata app?
Check three things: you can lock the app, you can back the records up yourself, and the privacy policy says customer names, phone numbers and amounts are not shared with advertisers. Munshi does those. App Lock is a PIN, with optional fingerprint or Face ID. Entries save on the phone and sync when you are back online, and you can keep a backup file in your own Google Drive. Customer names, numbers and amounts are never shared with advertisers. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
